Wie wär es mit Konkurrenz für AFA...?

Ja klar sind die das nicht, das wollte ich auch nicht damit sagen, es gibt ja genug beispiele dafür, ich meinte das man es als neuling eben schwerer hat Fehler auszubügeln als es eben AFA hat.

Aber um jedem Mißverständniss vorzubeugen, ich halte die Idee für gut, ich selbst hab auch die eine oder andere Figur die gut wäre zum Graden, allerdings ist es mir zu Riskant und zu Teuer, vor allem die Wartezeit würde mich Irre machen.

Aber jetzt mal Butter bei die Fische. Was würde es den kosten eine Figur graden zu lassen, inkl. Case (wenn dieses etwa 15 ¤ kosten würde) Porto und eben die Gradingkosten, und was kostet es bei AFA ?.

Als beispiel würde ich diese Karte schicken. Ist sicher via Bildschirm etwas schwierig aber nur zum besseren Verständniss für mich.

Also ich fänd' ja auch so ein LG-Sorglossiegel oder Stammtisch-Siegel gut.
Da weiß ich ich dann, meine unbekannten Freunde haben sich in harter Arbeit stundenlang den Kopf zermartert und bei ein paar Bier so ein Teil auf Herz und Nieren geprüft.
(nur mal ne Idee)

Ansonsten fänd' ich auch gut, das Teile der Macht mal nach Deutschland verlagert werden und ein paar superpenible Jungs (und Mädchen

)
die Sache prüfen und unters Elektronenmikroskop legen (gibt's ja nun schon aus dem Baumarkt).
Was es dann finanziell für die European Stammtischler bringt, ist ne andere Kiste, zumindest halten die dann mit ihrem guten Namen hin.
Eines Tages findet jemand ne Lösung. Hoffentlich gibt es dann noch was zum "graden".

Man könnte ja klein anfangen...und dann sehen was daraus wird. Zuerst die Kunden in Deutschland ansprechen und schon mal die Fühler nach ganz Europa ausstrecken...

Ich brauche kein grading, sondern nur vernünftige (custom & regular) cases zu vernünftigen Preisen.

die Cases sind für loose Figuren auch viel zu "klobig"....4mm Acryl..sieht unschön aus bei den kleinen Cases...
..naja und das das Graden incl. der für mich unschönen Cases, einer losen Figur £17.95 kosten soll ....aehm..nö Danke

Und btw. Das Graden einer Losen Figur find ich eh mehr als witzlos....den Zustand kann ich selber graden und obs eine Orginalfigur ist..eigendlich auch^^

Wieso machen die eigendlich jetz auch ein eigenes Gradingsystem? Wenn das mit dem Graden jetzt noch zig Leute machen hat man ebensoviele Gradingsysteme und keiner blickt mehr durch..wieso nehm die nich das gute alte C 1 - C 10 System?

AI Grade, AFA Grade, MDE Grade (MIRDOCHEGAL-Grade), IBB Grade (Ichbinblöd-Grade) usw. wo soll das enden ?

Wie Toytowers schon sagte das Case sieht mehr als bescheiden aus.
Ich denke das ist ein Versuch AFA die Stirn zu bieten was meiner Meinung nach gar nicht nötig ist da ich weder die noch AFA brauche.

Ich denke auch das kann jeder dazu brauch man nicht diese "Experten"

Ich erinnere da mal z.B an Svens Boba-Karte auf dem einen NRW-Stammtisch (nein ich will damit keine Diskusion freitreten über die Hintergründe) waren die die da waren nicht alle ein bisschen "AFA"

Probably time to say hello, I'm Adrian of Alien Industries and just wanted to attempt to explain where we are with the business at this time.

I have to say I'm supprised that we have been getting so much attention as we have not exactly publically launched yet as we are still under develpoment.

Quite rightly you all have very valid concerns and I just wanted to say that I appreciate all your feedback positive or negative.

This is where we are on the points that have been mentioned.

Grading and Integrity

1. Firstly, with regards to the heading AFA competition in the UK...

Although it is our aim to grow the business to be something different in the UK we are not arrogant enough by any means to think that we are any threat to the American grading authority for action figures (we do not have permission to state their name and will simply refer to them as "the authority" from now on) and are primarily offering a service of casing and displaying.

We only grade star wars toys released between 1978 and 1985 as we do not have the expertise to grade modern figures or for that matter other action figures as the authority do. Nor do we have the expertise to verify the authenticity of prototypes or foreign figures such as Lili ledy.

I personally am primarily a collector. I do appreciate that we have a way to go but I have allocated future investment to develop our product.

2. Selling Our Own Cased Figures

In order to set up a business like this we need to show what we can do and aim to get some of our product in circulation. On this basis we have produced a strictly limited total of 25 loose figures from my personal stock 5 carded figures and a sears creature cantina (to be added shortly).

All have been graded to the same standard with no preferential treatment, which brings me on to the next point.

3. Grading and Transparency

All figures graded by us are graded by myself and a local third party collector who has no financial interest in the company - the lower of the two grades is always used without exception.

Our grade is not based on some sort of random oh that looks pretty good we'll give it a 95, it is based on a step by step inspection with the results fed into a computerized system which provides the final grade.

Using the example of a loose figure it is graded as follows, Each part of the figure is graded individually to ensure a full inspection is carried our giving a fair and reliable outcome.

The Head, limbs and torso are all graded separately for originality, factory finish, paint wear, disfiguration and tightness (of head and limbs).

These grades are then averaged with prominent wear and tear (for example wear to the tip of the nose) being given additional weight.

All accessories are then graded for condition and then a final score out of 100 is given to the figure in question.

Then at the end of this the process is repeated by a collector outside the company as previously stated to ensure a smooth outcome.

4. Development and the Cases

We know we are taking up a tough challenge and are well aware of the problems we face but I do approach these with excitement.

Design of the cases is always going to be an issue that is up for debate between collectors and we appreciate your constructive feedback and suggestions so that we can build a business that other collectors appreciate and want to use.

It was suggested on the rebel scum forum that the figures rattle around in the cases and the weapons are glued to the card. This is not the case as they are tied in place to the backing card using clear nylon string ensuring that the figure and weapon is not damaged by glue or sticky tape and does not rattle around inside the box.

The pictures do not do the cases justice and we are therefore going to get pictures professionally taken to replace what I 100% accept are amateur pictures at this time.

Some have expressed a dislike of the card backs and I will be looking into alternatives to offer potential customers with the plastics company that produces the cased for us. I do however personally think they look very smart and all the face to face feedback I have had when the collector can actually see the final product in their hand has been very encouraging so far.

5. Conclusion

We are not the authority and I highly recommend the authority to collectors as it is not our intention to impact them in any negative way... We are however looking to develop an alternative way to display and protect your collectable figures.
